Membership in the European associationsMembership of the Association of European Walled Towns (EWT) Since 1992 Nin has been a member of the Association of European Walled Towns. The aim of this association is professional cooperation and exchange of experiences among the towns which take care of the maintenance and the tourist evaluation of these monuments. The walls of Nin are a valuable monument and tourist attraction so that an active participation of the Association of European Walled Towns is one more proof of the value of this historical monument, but also the care Nin takes about their maintenance and their appropriate evaluation. Nin is European Destination of Excellence (EDEN) In 2010 Nin was proclaimed the winner of the Croatian competition for the award „European Destination of Excellence“ (EDEN) whose theme that year was „Aquatic Tourism“. With this, Nin joined the circle of about 100 of the most beautiful awarded European destinations. Otherwise, EDEN is a project started by the European Union in 2005 with the aim of encouraging and awarding excellence among the EU member states and candidates for membership (which Croatia joins on the 1st July 2013). This valuable recognition is an evidence of quality as well as the richness of the tourist offer of Nin, and the care for sustainable development. Since 2012, Nin is a member of the EDEN Network Association - the EDEN network that promotes sustainable tourism in EDEN - European Destinations of Excellence. |

From an exciting past to a lovely present On a small island in the middle of a shallow lagoon the small town of Nin can be found with its old centre, connected to the mainland by two stone bridges.
